Happy Holidays!!

Hey Dealers - Think I am going to take a few days off (which means :::gasp::: skipping a Weekender - sorry) and be with The Hub and the Puffeh Doggeh and just enjoy my family for Christmas. It costs nothing and it is the best gift I could ask for.

OK, so the Hub and I might make it to Randolph's for $0.67 Martinis. ;)
Then again, I might just shake up a batch at home and stay in with my boys watching the snow fall from The Tree House patio sliders...
Silent night, Holy night.... indeed.

Be safe and Happy Holidays!

A question for you, Dealers - a topic near and dear to my heart, that becomes a regular lifeline during the stressful holiday season, imo: Where is your favorite Happy Hour?
My big plans for the weekend consist of finding a great one to attend this evening, and I would love to branch out. I have been perusing this list - but I find myself overwhelmed with option anxiety, so you guide me. Tell us about your faves in the comments! (Seriously - that "comment" button - I dislike dusting the cobwebs off of it - it makes a blogger sad.)

Stone Cold Birthday love...

A reminder about birthday ice cream, from one of our best DiD tipsters, Tena:

"Here's a great freebie ... Go to Cold Stone Creamery's website, sign up for the birthday club, and get free ice cream (plus mix ins!) for your birthday. Once you are signed up you can add everyone in your family's birthdays to your account and they will get free ice cream too. "Sweet" deal, huh? Hahaha. I crack myself up."

Bet ya didn't think I would quote you exactly, eh? Too bad, because you are too too cute for words!
Thanks for the tips, keep em coming!

Grocery Circular Highlights

So the Hub informed me this week that Safeway has vowed to lower everyday prices on things, and that he actually noticed when he was in the store - things seemed more reasonable. Anyone else noticing a difference? (The ad they sent out with examples seems to indicate they are coming in to line with King Soopers prices on some staple items - some "new" prices still seem high to me...) Do tell - I am uber curious!

Meanwhile, what great deals are there to be had from this week's circulars?

Safeway:
$0.88 - lb Pork Shoulder Blade Roasts
$1.69 - lb Beef Chuck Pot Roast

$0.39 - lb Bananas
$1.99 - lb - b/s Chicken Tenders (It isn't as good as SF Market, but if you aren't heading there for anything else, this would get you through, not sure I would stock up at this price after the prices we have been seeing though)
Store Brand Milk = $1.99 a gallon this week at Safeway

Albertsons:
Keeps on Keepin' on with the "New Look" celebration for the 323 S. Broadway location, so if you are going to shop there, grab the coupons off the front of the circular (if you plan to spend at least $50.00)
$3.77 - each portions of Atlantic Salmon (doesn't say how big "portions" are, so this is iffy)
$3.99 - lb Medium Raw Shrimp
$0.99 - lb Pork Picnic Roast
$1.99 - lb 5 lb bag of Red Delicious Apples (limit 2, with coupon on circular)
$1.47 - lbs Albertsons Butter
-Also, if you buy 4 participating Betty Crocker items (and there is a great selection) for $6.00, you get a FREE lb of Albertsons butter.. great if you have some baking to do (I hear a GIANT cookie exchange this weekend calling my name!)
Store Brand Milk = $1.99 a gallon this week at Albertsons

King Soopers:
$1.47 - lb mixed bone in Pork Chops (this isn't bad.. gets better occasionally)
$.299 - lb Boneless Pork Tenderloin

$0.88 - each 2 liters of Pepsi (must buy 6)
Get a FREE gallon of milk when you buy 3 participating Kellogg's Cereal/Keebler Cookies or Crackers
$1.00 - Red, Orange or Yellow Bell Peppers, or English cucumbers

$0.88 - each Eggplants
BYGO - Knudsen Natural Sparkling Juices

If I missed anything in the adds that is a great deal, let me know.. happy shopping!

Grocery Circular Highlights

Ahhh, grocery shopping... one of my favorite activities of all time (no, serious - I am kind of a freak like that. I think it has to do with being near all that beautiful food.)
What do our major grocery chains have to offer this week?

Albertsons:
First of all, did you know that Albertsons will take all competitors coupons? Not just Kings and Safeway either! Sunflower, Walmart, Sprouts (eh?) and Whole Paycheck (er, "Whole Foods").. So those cantalinas that spit out at you at your local fave? Be sure to give them at least a passing glance if you are in Albertsons.
Also this week:
If you are shopping the Alameda and Broadway location:
$1.99 - lb Top Sirloin Steaks
$2.99 - each portions of Atlantic Farm Raised Salmon (that is a stock up price, kids - if you aren't anti farm raised.. and I am SO not)
$0.39 - lb Dole Bananas
$0.88 - Albertsons Bread
All Stores:
$1.77 - lb b/s Chicken Breasts (I am loving the great prices on b/s chicken breast - this is $0.10 more than Sunflower last week, but still good.. but don't get used to it, these things are fleeting!)
$0.97 - lb Family Pack Assorted Loin Pork Chops
(if you want center cut, those are on sale for $3.99 lb bone-in or $4.99 lb boneless)
There is a 10 for $10.00 sale in the produce section, including Mangoes, Avocados(Safeway is better), Bell Peppers (all colors), 2 lb bags of Carrots and other veggies.

King Soopers:
$1.00 - 2 cans of Kroger Broth - (beef, chicken or veggie)
$2.99 - 8 lb bag of Russet potatoes
$3.00 - 2 Pomegranates
KS is also having an Apple Sale, with all types on sale and a "sweet to tart meter" on the back page of their circular so you can figure out which Apple meets your fruity needs.

Safeway:
$1.88 lb - Beef Cross Rib Roast (boneless)
$0.77 - Hass Avocados
$0.99 - 3 lbs Navel Oranges
$3.00 - 2 Pomegranates (good price lots of places - hooray!)

Don't pay more than $1.99 a gallon for your milk this week, and look for hard and soft squash to be no more than $1.00 an lb (if you don't see it for that, head to the next store, it will be!)

Making Downtown shopping a bit more Merry.

This from the Pavillions:

3 CONVENIENT Reasons to Shop at the Denver Pavilions this Holiday Season:

-FREE Gift Wrapping: Drop your packages at PostNet (Level 1, South Plaza), present your receipts from any Denver Pavilions merchant, and we'll gift wrap your items FREE. Details at DenverPavilions.com
-FREE Dinner and a Movie: Spend $250 and receive a FREE $25 gift card to the Hard Rock Café, Lucky Strike Lanes, Maggiano's Little Italy or Corner Bakery (you choose) and a movie pass to United Artists Theatres at Denver Pavilions. Details at DenverPavilions.com.
-ALMOST FREE Parking: Through December 31, 2009, parking at the Denver Pavilions is only $2.00 on weekends and weeknights after 5pm with a validated ticket from a Denver Pavilions merchant.

(not bad)

Woops, look who is slackin' (SF Market deals)

Sorry all - I've been slackin'... I had to take to the bed with my puffeh little Potter-dog to ward off the horrid chill yesterday, and I totally missed Double Ad Wednesday at Sunflower. Oh well, the last ad's prices had been in effect for two weeks anyhoo - so IN WITH THE NEW!
What's on sale this week at SF?

In what should have been called "Sale After Keri's Own Heart" - SF is holding a Beef Roast Celebration (that is totally worthy of bold print) this week!
Rump, Cross Rib, Top Round, Chuck, Sirloin Tip, and Eye of Round are all BYGO free right now, giving you plenty of options to find the best cut and deal for your family.
If happen to be at the Colorado Blvd and Yale store and see a blond piling red meat into her cart, try not to judge - this is like an early Christmas present and I intend to stock the freezer with Roast Beast for cold winter nights to come!

What else is there?
$0.77 - 5.6 oz containers of Blackberries
$3.00 - for 2 Pomegranates (mmmm)
$0.25 - lbs of Russet Potatoes (although Kings can beat this many weeks) and Yellow Onions
$0.19 - each Kiwi fruit
$1.00 - for 3 Cucumbers
$0.88 - lb select Apple, Pear, and Orange Varieties.
$1.49 - lb - bulk sweetened banana chips (1 lb of banana chips is quite a bit!)
$1.99 - lb fresh chunky salsa from the SF deli (sooo tasty!)
