Can't get enough LaLa's

I have that whole "no drinky pregnant lady" thing pretty happily going on right now, so you all will just have to use this for me.
Grab a free mimosa or bloody mary on New Year's Day at Lala's with this FB coupon - go for brunch - have their version of Eggs Benedict and then write me long-winded descriptions of the soft cooked eggs running down into the crunchy polenta cakes...  no wait, don't.  No DO - it's too good to resist, even in description.

Weekender

Since I have been feeling like it was one day later all week (this SHOULD be Friday, am I right?) I figured I would roll out the Weekender a day early so we can all start planning a super fun Mile High weekend!  Fun and Frugal for us this weekend means heading for the Rock Bottom sometime to use a Gift Certificate I won earlier this year that is about to expire - Hooray for free Rock Bottom!!
So what about you and yours? Here are some ideas  that won't cut into the holiday budget:

12/16- Itching to get your holiday celebrations AND your weekend started just a little bit early?
Then head for the Ice Cube Gallery Thursday evening to join in their festivities and peruse the current show - see their website for more details and directions.

12/19-  Want to end your weekend with a beautiful walk in the quiet, crisp outdoors?  How about doing it a stone's throw from downtown?  It's time for Wash Park's second annual Luminaria night - from 4-9pm on Sunday the houses that surround Washington Park will have their drives and walks lit up with the paper lanterns to light up one of the shortest nights of the year.  So go wander in the park and stare out at the glow as the darkness takes hold.  You will rarely hear ME say this, but wouldn't it be pretty with just a little snow?

Baby it's cold outside!  And I like it A LOT!
Hello snow,  welcome back!
We have lots of exciting plans for the weekend, broken up with periods of rest and relaxation -  it's the recipe for a perfect weekend, in my humble opinion!  Friday is ultrasound day, and I can't wait to see our little bambino again!  Friday night The Hub is also exercising his current favorite way to "make" dinner by ordering us Cosmos pizza (and bread sticks with Nacho cheese dipping sauce for me!  MMMMMMM)
Also this weekend we are getting a visit from Dr. Sissy, BIL, and Vaughny the world's greatest nephew - can't wait to spend some time with them!

So what fun and frugal things can you do around town this weekend?

Weekender

Weekend!!  I am SOOOOOOO ready for a little R&R!  There has been some big goings on around the Tree House lately, which have been greatly contributing to both my love of lazy, activity free weekends AND my lack of posts around here (what with the whole "if I sit down for over 10 minutes, I pretty much fall asleep and it is fine by me" thing I have going on lately.)  I hope now that the wonderful truth is out, you will forgive my neglect, Dealers.
So what is up this weekend around town?

10/9 - 10/10 - It is time for the Botanic Gardens annual Pumpkin Fest!  Held at the Chatfield location, this one is always a family fave. There are admission costs, but they cover LOTS of activities once you are inside, and this can be a whole day of family fun. Go here for all the information.

10/9 - Need MORE family fun? Well the Town Square of Arvada is worth checking out on Saturday! you can enter or just observe scarecrows of all shapes and sizes throughout Olde Town. Bring costumed kids for the parade, navigate the corn maze, find a perfect pumpkin and be sure to vote for your favorite scarecrow. The fun is happening from 10am- 3pm in the Square. At 2pm Aravda will also be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Olde Town Water Tower!  Check here for more details and location.

Another beautiful weekend in the Mile High City - can you believe this weather!? (Can you believe how much that sounded like something an elderly relative would have said! Nice Ker....)
Anyway, this weekend The Hub and I celebrate 6 years of wedded bliss, (I still haven't decided where we are going for dinner that evening,) by doing what all romantic, head-over-heals-in-love married couples do to celebrate these big occassions.  We are picking out new bath towels and a new coffee maker! (hubba hubba.)

But what is fun and frugal for YOU to do around town this weekend?  Let's see:

9/24- Are you taking part in One Book, One Denver and reading The Help?  Drooling over all that food?  Well head for The Seasoned Chef starting this evening (and continuing Fridays in October) to learn how to cook the yummy dishes featured in the book. The classes are free, but space is limited so go here for more info and to RSVP.

9/24-9/26 - Oktoberfest, continues this weekend in the Ball Park neighborhood (festival located on Larimer between 20th and 22nd.)  Admission to the event is free, and family fun can be had by all, (Chicken dance, anyone?) Scrape together some moolah for beer and a giant pretzel or brat, or just head on down to watch the entertainment.  Go here for all the details.

9/24-9/26- Itchin' to spend a little time in Boulder this weekend?  Well take the fam to Fall Fest and enjoy lots of free entertainment, 10% discounts from local merchants, food, aritisans and fun all weekend long on The Pearl Street Mall! Get the schudule of events, along with vendor info and more at the festival website.
________________________________
9/25 - Saturday is National Public Lands Day and there are activities to get involved in all across the country!  Coloradans LOVE our outdoor spaces, so get out and give back!  Nickelodeon will be going off the air and offline for the day, to celebrate it's National Day of Play corresponding with National Public Lands Day, so get the kids away from the TV and go here to see all the great activites going on.  Oh, and in honor of the day, all National Parks are offering free admission on Saturday too - so go enjoy the beautiful weather in some amazing locations for FREE!.
________________________________
9/25 - OR get some culture of the indoor variety by printing your ticket for free admission to one of the museums participating in Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day!  Go to their website to see a full list of all the Museums offering free admission (Lots to choose from in our area,) and print your free ticket.

9/25 - Feeling crafty?  Lowes Build and Grow clinic for the kiddos is back this weekend, and the free project they can build is a super cool fire truck!  So celebrate safety with Lowes and go here to pick a location and sign up!

9/26-9/27 - Good consignment sale happening this Sunday and Monday at the Wildlife Experience! It's the semi-annual Kids Closet Consignment Sale and Parents Expo.  $1.00 admission gets you in on Sunday afternoon for good bargin hunting on all kinds of gently used kids' items, or shop on Monday starting at 9a.m. for 1/2 price on remaining items!  Get more information about the sale and directions to the Wildlife Experience here.

Weekender

It's the weekend and good gravy we love beer around here, don't we!?
The weather is going to be summery and beautiful - so you can find me soaking up the sun at the final weekend of pool season around our place.  So what is there for you to do around the Mile High City this weekend?

9/17-9/19 - Touristification of the GABF got ya down?  A fine and frugal beer drinking alternative starts this weekend in LoDo, as Denver kicks off its annual 2 weekend Oktoberfest, located on Larimer between 20th and 22nd.  Admission to the event is free, and family fun can be had by all, (Chicken dance, anyone?) Scrape together some moolah for beer and a giant pretzel or brat, or just head on down to watch the entertainment.  Go here for all the details.
__________________________________________
9/17-19 - 5280 feet above sea level just not high enough for your Oktoberfest taste? Well then load the SUV and head for Breck to celebrate Oktoberfest there this weekend!  It's Breckenridge's 16th year celebrating Oktoberfest, so go get German celebration on in faux Victorian village style. (Eh?)
Get all the details here.
__________________________________________
through 9/19 - Of course, if you want to get in on the beer sampling frenzy going on downtown, but do it up local-style, the Denver Beer Fest, continues with events around town this weekend.  Goodness knows we LOVE our beer around here  - local organizers are calling us "the Napa Valley of Beer."  Cute.  Anyway, get all the info you could ever want here, and go celebrate the goodness that is beer and our state's extensive knowledge of it,!
__________________________________________
9/18 - "Lady, the only beer I drink is on my back porch after the kiddos go to bed - I got mouths to feed," you say? Well, have I got the sale for you. It's time for STORM's biannual Childerens' Equipment and Clothing sale is this Saturday, and I have it on good authority that this is a good one!  Admission is $1.00, go here to get the location and hours, and more info about what the 50+ families participating will have for sale.

9/17-9/19 - Craving a little piece of island bliss while nestled along the foothills? Then say Aloha to 29th St. Mall in Boulder this weekend, as it hosts the Colorado Aloha Festival, featuring Hawaiian food, art, and entertainment all weekend long. Lots of music and dancers at this one, Dealers, so check out the schedule here and pass the Poi!  (Fair warning, the University of Hawaii is in town this weekend to play the Buffs, so if you head to Boulder near game time, pack your traffic patience.)
__________________________________________
9/18- 9/19 - Hankering to say "Slainte" and release your inner step-dancer this weekend? Head on over to Edgewater for the Celtic Harvest Festival!  They will have two days of  vendors, food,  kids' activities, and free entertainment all kicking off Saturday morning at the 11:30 opening festival.  Check out their website for a rundown of events and activities.
_________________________________________
9/19 - Yoga on 6th is taking part in this year's international Yoga Aid Challenge on Sunday from 10am - Noon. Join the two hour class, which is free with a donation - proceeds go to the Africa Yoga Project.
