-The "Picturesque Colorado"Exhibition of vintage railroad ads featuring photographs and photochromes of Colorado(info about the collection here) is in the last two weeks of the exhibition at the Byers-Evans House Museum - I have mentioned this one before, and it is probably just the old Colorado History Minor from College rising up in me, but this is an awesome collection in an awesome space for FREE!! Located at 1310 Bannock St.

-Don't forget, your favorite Farmers' Markets are up and running for the summer now.. buying local saves you money and supports and strengthens our Colorado economy!! Find a market near you here

Happy 3 day weekend, fellow Denverites.. Now go hug a vet!

ETA -Check out Saturday's Denver Post for lots of great ideas for activities this weekend and all thru the summer... (bonus points to them for including The Lancer in their patio drinking feature instead of taking the obvious and overplayed route and pointing out Govs Park in the 'hood. WOO HOO Lancer!!!)

  1. Azteca Ranch Market

This state-of-the-art supermarket boasts a top-notch bakery where the pan dulce is two-pieces-for-a-dollar and the menu includes cornbread-style banana bread that could make you forget all about Mom's. Not to mention a dining area with mouthwatering offerings like carne asada, chile rellenos, barbacoa and mole displayed in full view to make your choice especially difficult. If you actually do some shopping amid all the eating, be sure to visit the beautiful, jampacked produce section and see what fresh garbanzos and limas in the pod look like.

    * Don't miss: the aforementioned barbacoa - three hunks of pot-roast-tender beef still glistening with the deep red cooking liquid, with rice and beans on the side, for $5.99. From the looks of things, though, it's impossible to blow it with anything behind the counter. Who'd have thought you'd find the best Mexican food on South Federal in a supermarket?

This place is having an amazing sale this weekend. Chicken boob for 1.69 a pound. Avacadoes for $.50 the fruit is amazing.
