Weekender

NO in-laws, NO commitments, NO babies left to be born, NO nuthin'.. You can find me at the pool with an adult beverage pretty much all weekend, regardless of what earth-shattering plans may present themselves, I must veg, and I MUST do it soon.

Peel me up and shuffle me off to church on Sunday morning, but other than that, Do Not Disturb!

However, there are plenty of great things going on around town this weekend, so there is no need for any attempts at poaching my pool time!

8/7 - First Friday Events abound:

- Fashion Denver in the Golden Triangle (321 W. 11th Ave.) is hosting an open house from 5-9 pm, stop by and check out local featured designers. Check out the Golden Triangle's First Friday celebration while you are in the 'hood.

- Tennyson Street hosts the North Denver Art Walk from 6-10pm.
This from the Westword FB page about it: "KOOZA First Friday Art Walk on Tennyson tonight at 7:30pm. Start at NOW Art Gallery where you will find Blue Moon sampling! Find the characters and they will lead you to $3 Blue Moon and tix to KOOZA!!!"

-The Santa Fe Arts District hosts its monthly First Friday Art Walk from 6-9pm. This is the Denver original!

Free Cotton Candy, Snow Cones and Popcorn make this a no-brainer for families looking for a fun and frugal activity! All the info is here.

8/7 If you would rather get your groove on in the Northern 'burbs then pick cotton candy out of your kids hair in Cap Hill, the Orchard Towne Center's concert series hosts Jakarta this week, with the music going from 6-8pm. Check their website for directions, etc.

8/8 - Lowes is offering a Build and Grow clinic for the little DIYers in your life, this weekend the tikes can build a wooden "powerboat". Pre-registration is needed: click here to get started.

8/8 - After you drop the kiddos off to build a boat, head over to Whole Foods Denver and Cherry Creek locations and check out their "Road Show" event from 11am-3pm. Interact with the folks who provide the food you buy at WF, snack on samples, get cooking and prep tips, and groove to live music. If you decide you want to spring for lunch, prepared meals will be available and the purchase will benefit local not-for-profit groups.
