Weekender

This is a very important weekend. This weekend we celebrate the Worldwide blowout holiday that is MY BIRTHDAY!! (Ok fine, so I have to share it with my twin sister, but Sissy is fabulous too, so it's ok.)

What? Not a holiday? :::Pouting::: Fine, but it should be. (I am observing it by taking a 4 day weekend, heading to DUH's Farmers Market and the DPL Used Book Sale, and by pretending that banks and post offices are closed. So there.)

So, what fabulous activities can you partake in without breaking the bank this weekend?

6/10 - Thanks to the Denver Film Society, You can see Young Frankenstein on a big screen for free at the DCPA Thursday evening at 7:00. If you want to go, pick up tickets starting at 4:00 p.m. at the box office - go here for all the details.

6/10-6/13 - One of my absolute faves every year, this weekend marks the 35th annual Friends of the Library DPL used book sale!! This year they have added an extra day to the sale, giving us bibliophiles more time to scour through the endless tables of books (along with CDs, DVDs, Books on Tape, etc.) Go here for all the information, and I will see ya under the tents!)

6/12- Stapleton's Summer Concert Series kicks off this Saturday with (very deserving) local favorite Hazel Miller Band! The free concert is from 6-8 at The Green in Stapleton. Go here for more about it!

6/12 - City Park Alliance Hosts the second of four Saturday Story Hour in The Park events beginning at 10:00 a.m. featuring local community leaders reading children's stories, followed by cookies and lemonade for all. Grab a blankie to sit on, go here for more details, and head for the Graham-Bible House on the west side of the park to get in on the story-time fun!

6/12 - The Lowes Build and Grow Clinic this weekend features a wooden picture frame that the kids can build and give to dad for Father's Day! Go here to find a location near you and register.

6/12-6/13 - The Art Students League of Denver is hosting a Summer Art Market featuring local artists' works that you can browse and buy. Also included in the schedule of events are free art and craft classes and projects for kids and adults alike, and live music too. Food and drink can be purchased if desired. The Market is free to attend, check out all the participants and schedule of events here. (The Market will be on Grant between 2nd and 3rd, and 2nd between Logan and Sherman, so watch for street closures, etc if you are in the neighborhood on Saturday and Sunday.)

6/12 - It's the first weekend for Denver's Blockbusters in the Parks summer movie series, this time around it is "Cats and Dogs" in Skyline Park. Movies start at sunset on giant inflatable screens, so pack up the family, blankets, lawn chairs and bug spray and go see a movie right in the heart of downtown this Saturday evening. Don't forget, free Popcorn, Cotton Candy, and Snow Cones are always provided! (So maybe bring some Wet-wipes too.)____________________________
