Sunflower Market Double Ad Wednesday
Last week's ad has 8 grapefruits for $1.00, red bell peppers for $0.88 each, 14-16 oz edamame packs for $1.50 each, and lettuce and spinach bunches for $0.88 each, along with savings on organic baby food and bulk cheese varieties, and lots of other great deals.
HOWEVER - this week was JUST what I was hoping for at SF market - it is stock up pricing on b/s chicken breast!! $1.77 lb is a price I am totally happy to pay and load the freezer (and just in time for me to recover from my Midwestern food binge in Indy over the past week - Oh Keri, the shame...)
So I will be loading up on that and also filling my cart with asparagus for $0.77 an lb (blanch briefly and shock in ice water, dry and seal flat in Ziplocs and then freeze,) broccoli crowns for $0.88 lb (same treatment as asparagus - the Hub only likes "the tree" part of broccoli, so this is a good price,) and I will be checking out the prices on bison, in the store for a limited time only, because it is so tasty and so great for you, but even sale prices can be more than I want to spend.
So - make a list, make a plan, and head over to SF market today to take advantage of both weeks' sales. See you there. ; )

Weekender
Ok, confession time: I have been on my "weekend" for two days now - as you are reading this I am in Noblesville, Indiana, probably snuggling my 7mo old nephew and shoving Steak n Shake in my piehole. (Though it hurts to admit, it is probably a very good thing that we don't have S n' S in Denver, I would be broke and only able to fit into my husband's sweatpants...)
So, what can all of you back in Colorful Colorado do this lovely weekend?
2/19 - Are you and your little one itchin' for some interaction on Friday morning? Denver Public Library has story groups for various ages at locations around the city, and Friday mornings offer some of the best examples! See the list here and get thee to the library!

2/19-2/20 - Performances for Colorado Ballet's staging of Beauty and the Beast are on the list at Denver 2 for 1 tix this week. To take advantage of this deal, arrive at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House box office two hours before curtain and mention Denver 2 for 1 tix. Get price details and directions here.

2/20 - I am going to keep saying it because I love farmers markets and I LOVE to say "duh": Check out Denver Urban Homesteading's weekly Farmer's Market. It takes place every Saturday year round at DUH's (that is what they call themselves, which makes me love them even more) headquarters: 200 Santa Fe Drive Denver, CO 80204. It is open from 9am - 2pm every Saturday, which gives you ample time to stop in. See DUH's website for more info.________________________________
through 2/20 - Walker Fine Art Gallery's 2010 Preview exhibit comes to a close this weekend. The exhibit features vignettes of all the gallery's 2010 shows - a tease to let you see when you want to come back for more (I love it!) The gallery is located at 300 West 11th Ave in Denver. See their website for information about the artists and hours.

I would be remiss not to mention it:
2/20 - 3/5- Dying to try that restaurant, but not sure about the hefty price? Want to try something fun and different at your old favorite? Well, break out your phone and start dialing for reservations because it is time for Denver Restaurant Week! Actually it is 2 weeks this year - for a price of $52.80 per couple you can try a selection from participating restaurants' DRW menus, most of which are up on the event's website. There is no denying that a handful of genuine deals can be found if you dig in the list of restaurants, and it is fun to be a part of this yearly happening. If you decide to go, take a second to look over the restaurant's regular menu and compare it with their normal offerings. I look for something that is actually a significant savings (keeping in mind that DRW portions are often smaller than normal offerings - though I am ok with a smaller portion most of the time) compared to the normal menu, or for offerings that are different than what is normally available. (Caveau has an expanded menu paired with Wine offerings for each dish - now that is fun and different!) Some people love it, some people hate it, but DRW has become a lasting fixture on the Denver dining scene.
So that's it for my suggestions - help your fellow Dealers out and post others below, and have a great weekend in Denver!

Sunflower Market Double Ad Wednesday Preview
I don't think I am finished shamelessly hogging up those $0.39 avocados - I have a bunch of puree frozen already, but I bet I end up grabbing a couple more when I head back this week to take advantage of 3 for $1.00 cucumbers and heads of cabbage (33 cents for a head of cabbage or a cucumber? I see baja style tacos with a cucumber yogurt sauce in our future!!) Bone in NY strip steaks are $4.97 lb, which is a good price and MIGHT make our "night out at home" menu for Valentines day, since splurging on one of those and maybe a $4.97 each lobster tail for surf and turf is still a pretty darn cheap date night!
I am ready and waiting for double ad Wednesday!

Sunflower Market Double Ad Wednesday Preview
Looks like I will be grabbing a bag of those Alexia french fries from last week's ad - the grocery budget is stretching nice and far this time around! (HOORAY!) Also, they have Haas Avocados for $0.39 each in this week's ad - not a typo, 39 cents!! Roma Tomatoes are $0.39 an lb - which to me means "grab a ton and freeze cooked tomatoes and homemade sauce." Bunches of Green Onions, Cilantro, Radishes, and 1 lb bags of carrots are 2 for $1.00 (as in, cilantro and green onions to make salsa to freeze with those tomatoes, perhaps?)
I should mention that "All natural"b/s chicken breasts are $1.99 lb this week, which is lower than they are when not on sale, but not at all a "stock up" price.
Look over all the deals so you can shop Double Ad Wednesday!
A little something for the singles...
Interesting. I am not so sure that it is such a complicated process that a class is required for success.
