Weekender

It's the weekend and good gravy we love beer around here, don't we!?
The weather is going to be summery and beautiful - so you can find me soaking up the sun at the final weekend of pool season around our place.  So what is there for you to do around the Mile High City this weekend?

9/17-9/19 - Touristification of the GABF got ya down?  A fine and frugal beer drinking alternative starts this weekend in LoDo, as Denver kicks off its annual 2 weekend Oktoberfest, located on Larimer between 20th and 22nd.  Admission to the event is free, and family fun can be had by all, (Chicken dance, anyone?) Scrape together some moolah for beer and a giant pretzel or brat, or just head on down to watch the entertainment.  Go here for all the details.

9/17-19 - 5280 feet above sea level just not high enough for your Oktoberfest taste? Well then load the SUV and head for Breck to celebrate Oktoberfest there this weekend!  It's Breckenridge's 16th year celebrating Oktoberfest, so go get German celebration on in faux Victorian village style. (Eh?)
Get all the details here.

through 9/19 - Of course, if you want to get in on the beer sampling frenzy going on downtown, but do it up local-style, the Denver Beer Fest, continues with events around town this weekend.  Goodness knows we LOVE our beer around here  - local organizers are calling us "the Napa Valley of Beer."  Cute.  Anyway, get all the info you could ever want here, and go celebrate the goodness that is beer and our state's extensive knowledge of it,!

9/18 - "Lady, the only beer I drink is on my back porch after the kiddos go to bed - I got mouths to feed," you say? Well, have I got the sale for you. It's time for STORM's biannual Childerens' Equipment and Clothing sale is this Saturday, and I have it on good authority that this is a good one!  Admission is $1.00, go here to get the location and hours, and more info about what the 50+ families participating will have for sale.

9/17-9/19 - Craving a little piece of island bliss while nestled along the foothills? Then say Aloha to 29th St. Mall in Boulder this weekend, as it hosts the Colorado Aloha Festival, featuring Hawaiian food, art, and entertainment all weekend long. Lots of music and dancers at this one, Dealers, so check out the schedule here and pass the Poi!  (Fair warning, the University of Hawaii is in town this weekend to play the Buffs, so if you head to Boulder near game time, pack your traffic patience.)

9/18- 9/19 - Hankering to say "Slainte" and release your inner step-dancer this weekend? Head on over to Edgewater for the Celtic Harvest Festival!  They will have two days of  vendors, food,  kids' activities, and free entertainment all kicking off Saturday morning at the 11:30 opening festival.  Check out their website for a rundown of events and activities.

  1. If you want to head out of town and watch some runners punish their bodies for 13.1 miles, head to Ft. Collins for the Crossroads Half Marathon on Sunday morning. The race starts at 8am.

I'll be there doing some punishing myself.
