Now through January 15th you can drop in to any MedExpress location in the front range and get a free flu shot from your little one, aged 4-18.  Getting your school aged child vacinated against the flu is a great idea, and now you can do it free of charge!

Can't get enough LaLa's

 I have that whole "no drinky pregnant lady" thing pretty happily going on right now, so you all will just have to use this for me.

Weekender

Since I have been feeling like it was one day later all week (this SHOULD be Friday, am I right?) I figured I would roll out the Weekender a day early so we can all start planning a super fun Mile High weekend!  Fun and Frugal for us this weekend means heading for the Rock Bottom sometime to use a Gift Certificate I won earlier this year that is about to expire - Hooray for free Rock Bottom!!
So what about you and yours? Here are some ideas  that won't cut into the holiday budget:

12/16- Itching to get your holiday celebrations AND your weekend started just a little bit early?
Then head for the Ice Cube Gallery Thursday evening to join in their festivities and peruse the current show - see their website for more details and directions.

12/17- 12/19- So Santa called to make sure I let my readers in on a special treat happening this weekend - 2 of his reindeer, Donner and Blitzen, will be stopping in under the under the porte cochere entrance of the Hyatt Regency Convention Center from 1pm-5pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday!  They will be saying hello to folks who want to stop in and visit, free of charge, AND if the kiddos bring a can of food to donate, they can sip on a free cup of cocoa as well!

12/19-  Want to end your weekend with a beautiful walk in the quiet, crisp outdoors?  How about doing it a stone's throw from downtown?  It's time for Wash Park's second annual Luminaria night - from 4-9pm on Sunday the houses that surround Washington Park will have their drives and walks lit up with the paper lanterns to light up one of the shortest nights of the year.  So go wander in the park and stare out at the glow as the darkness takes hold.  You will rarely hear ME say this, but wouldn't it be pretty with just a little snow?

Christmas comes to Olde Town Golden weekends between Thanksgiving and Christmas - each weekend there is a parade on Saturday morning, free horse drawn carriage rides, and lots of other family friendly activities to get you in the holiday spirit.  Check out Golden's website for more information.

 Outdoor skating is back in Downtown Denver - and it is FREE!!! (Well, if you have skates.) The rink at Skyline Park is open for the season through January 31st.  It is free to skate, and skate rental, if needed, is only 2 bucks! Go here to get info on hours, and also bookmark the site as they will be offering free skate rental days for the little ones throughout the season! (Much cheaper than the Belmark rink's prices - or One Boulder Plaza for that matter - though you can skate as long as you like there for the cost of admission.) They also do fun events at the rink - see the full schedule here!  **This Saturday Morning is another learn to skate clinic for the kiddos!**

Weekender

Ahhh weekend. I am proud to say that I actually have all my Christmas shopping done, and I plan to kick back and watch DVRed holiday specials from ABC Family with a big cup of cocoa (while stirring with a Candy Cane, of course.) Oh wait - at some point I also have to muck out the Guest bedroom and magically transform it into a place for a baby to lay his sweet head, (with apologies to the writer of Away in a Manger, natch.)
Maybe next weekend.  :)

Free Admission at DMNS today!

If you are a Colorado resident, then today is your last chance for 2011 to enjoy free admission to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science!

IMAX and special exhibits are not included - but the rest of the museum awaits for your free-of-charge exploration!

Trade toys for drinks!

On Monday, December 6 at 8 p.m., the Colorado Bartenders' Guild will hold its sixth annual holiday toy drive at Oak at 14th in Boulder, (1400 Pearl Street), at 8pm.
Bring an unwrapped toy (or more than one) to dontate - for each one you bring, you will get a free drink!  And Oak will be serving up some complimentary food to accompany your free drinks!  Toys will be donated to the Salvation Army (and the bartenders are generously donating their tips, as well!)


 Come dressed to impress, because prizes will be given for the best and worst holiday get-up. For more information, dial 303-444-3622.

Weekender

It's the weekend!  I confess, I will probably spend mine relaxing on the sofa and gazing at the twinkly lights on our tree - but that doesn't mean there aren't lots of fun activities that won't break the bank happening this weekend!

12/3-12/4 - Ooooo, it's Parade of Lights weekend!!!  Time to bundle the kiddos and head downtown for this Denver holiday tradition.  The parade kicks off at 8pm on Friday and 6pm on Saturday - go here to get the parade route and for more details on this great free family event!

12/3 - Santa will be flying into Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (Jeffco to those of us who grew up near there,) at 6pm on Friday in a helicopter (reindeer are resting up for "the big show" - you understand.)  He will visit with the kiddos and hear all their Christmas wishes. There will be snacks and cocoa and activities for the whole family.  You can check their website for directions, or call the airport for more information at 303-271-4850.
